A big Happy Christmas to Auntie Helen and Uncle Neil! Daddy found a very scary picture of Helen from a couple of years back. He also found one with me looking possibly even cuter than I do now, but that is because I was a baby then, and I am now a Big Boy. Behold how I negotiate the worktop without falling off. I was too busy looking for a pen to scribble with to worry about that, and daddy obviously couldn't have cared less either. Helen came to visit tonight and I showed her how I could say 'star' and 'bauble' at the tree. She seemed more interested in the nibbles and chocs though, so I got her back by pretending to fall asleep in the middle of the story she read me. Talking of sleep, slst night I slept all the way through. Coincidentally, this is the first time in quite a while that Mummy and Daddy haven't walked around like zombies for most of the day. I wonder if there is some kind of link?
I am very excited about Christmas. Daddy says I have been a very good boy, so I am looking forward to opening up my cot-stocking to see what Santa has brought me. I'm especially hoping for some socks and a toothbrush, so (cute chubby) fingers crossed! Ho Ho Ho Ho Herbert!!!

Well it was all very exciting this morning. When I came downstairs there were lots of lovely lights everywhere and someone had brought a tree in to the house. It was decorated with lots of sparkly things which I am very keen to get my hands on. Mummy and Daddy didn't let me play on my own near the tree today. I am waiting till they are off their guard as I really need to investigate further. Who brings a tree in to a house anyway?! What a strange time of year. Daddy says that an old man will come and give me presents at Christmas. I know all about that - hope he brings Granny with him too. Also, Daddy has been telling me about another old man who bah-humbugs about Christmas a lot. And tomorrow he's going to read me A Christmas Carol. Enough! I shall get myself in to trouble taking cheap shots at beloved relatives. You're wonderful and I can't wait to see you all soon. Love, Berty Bassett xxx
Hi Herbert fans! My nursery christmas party was a huge success, as you can see from these photos. We began with a few hors d'ouvres, the pink iced biscuits being particularly moreish. I wore the hat that I had designed and created myself, especially for the occasion. A few heads turned, so did some stomachs. I was just tucking in when we were instructed to move to the next room, so I proceeded to mingle, slightly embarrased at my lack of fancy dress. Casey was looking particularly dapper in his santa suit. It wasn't long before the party was in full swing, and someone had the idea of creating a snow-pit on the floor. The e-numbers had started kicking in by now, so I pretty much lost control. All I remember is crawling around on all fours covered in flour. I hope I didn't make a fool of myself. When I got home I had a long sleep and woke up with a hangover. Only joking, I actually woke up and had a rumpus with my teddies - much more fun! Love, Herbert xxx

This one's for you Uncle Jared! Anything look familiar? My funny round head was toasty as an egg in a novelty egg-cosy as we set out to take in the Christmas lights of the bungalow near the post office. Those lights are legendary in their luminscence, lighting up the sky for miles around with the simple use of three inflatable santas, 37 glowing rudolphs and 86,000 assorted stars, trees and elves in various merry poses. The roof has more wattage than an electric chair, resulting in December sales of sunglasses at the local opticians exceeding July's 10 times over. Dad still talks about how back in '37 a major rail crash was averted when the driver of the 22.19 to Norwich spotted an obstruction on the line, as a result of the Old Newton Glare. Seven hippy field mice had decided to set up a commune in the middle of the track. The makeshift totempole and rotisserie grill perched on the rail would have caused mayhem if the driver had not spotted them in time. Disaster was averted and the driver moved to New Zealand and can be seen as an extra in Lord Of The Rings. I think he was an ent.
Anyway, I digress. The lighting display was great and made us all feel very christmasy. "Get Excited!" I cry! And thanks to Granny for sneaking me the hat without which this particular Blog would never have happened. Love, Herbie xxx
Hi there Herbert Fans! I have just spent a relaxing weekend in the country with the Marshall family. Relations of Mother apparently and very hospitable too. It was very exciting to see Molly and Oscar again, who I enjoyed playing with and shared their toys with me. Nana and Papa were there, and I even got to see Granny and Grandad. Do you like the pictures? As you can see, I taught Granny how to point, and Nana tried to teach me how to sit on a potty. All this was in aid of Mummy's birthday. Happy Birthday Mummy, I love you very much! Herbert
